Tavistock consultancy service, brings to this programme our unique below the surface approach together with our many years of experience both in psychotherapy and in senior executive coaching with blue chip, public and voluntary sector clients. This programme is intended for professionals who wish to widen and deepen their understanding of the coaching task and its place within organisational development.

The programme is designed to promote understanding of conscious and unconscious psychological processes in the leadership and management of organisations. The conceptual base of the programme is the Tavistock systems psychodynamic approach to organisational consultancy.

An earlier version of the programme was awarded the Quality Award of the European Mentoring and Coaching Council (EMCC) at Intermediate Level and the course has since been extended to include further supervised practice and an enhanced curriculum. When the current cohort has completed the new extended programme we will be applying to the EMCC for the Quality Award at Practitioner Level and with an academic partner plan to develop the programme to Masters Level.

The programme comprises five taught modules. In addition, to support participants' development and learning, six two-hour coaching supervision groups are available throughout the year as well as individual supervision from TCS Consultants.

Satisfactory completion of all of the modules, assessment requirements and attendance at supervision will lead to a Tavistock Accredited Certificate in Executive Coaching Skills.

The Programme Tutors draw on didactic, experiential and observational learning techniques to maximise participants' skill development. Systems and psychodynamic theory will be explored and participants will be expected to work with their own case studies and be prepared to use experiential learning techniques and feedback. The programme includes presentations of theory, discussion groups, skills practice, experiential exercises, facilitated role-play, supervised coaching practice, coaching syndicate groups, video analysis and feedback, reflective plenary sessions.
